           For the Week of 5/9- 5/10/2011 the Education and Cultural Affairs Committee will be very busy with their work sessions.

"Look Ma, JMG's on TV"

On February 24, JMG was featured on the WCSH 6 TV show 207. The 207 crew traveled to Morse High School in Bath to interview JMG Specialist Maria Morris and two of her students, Julia Moranski and Matt Bloomer, about the JMG program and what it has to offer students.

Today, March 2nd, the Education Committee held a marathon confirmation hearing on  Governor LePage's nomination of The Honorable Stephen Bowen as Commissioner of Education.  After 5 hours of testimony and questions,  the committee voted -  mostly on party lines - to recommend to the Maine Senate for final confirmation the name of The Honorable Stephen Bowen as the nominee for Commissioner of Education.  The vote in the
